Busting At The Seams

Well it appears what I posted previously might actually be happening. I haven't talked to anybody out here about it yet and I had a breakdown tonight about it. Still having it actually.

I'm going to MISS MY FRIENDS AND MY HOME. I don't really have any "family" friends - friends of the family so to speak. Just the ones I had back when I was 16 before I got married and had a family of my own. And not many of those since I was home-schooled. B has a few friends left but they are all unmarried without kids.

It will be difficult trying to start over there, even if it's for just a few months. And I will miss my friends here sooo bad. Any ideas or suggestions on how to keep in touch with them while I'm gone?? I don't want to lose the friendships we've established thus far!! They're great friends and now I'm gonna go cry again

Day After A Kid Being Sick

I'm really glad my little is NOT sick any more but any of you who have kids know what I'm talking about when I say they are sooooo cranky after they are sick!!! That was my fun day. My theory is because they get so spoiled when they're sick, they're sooo sad and pateto (pathetic) looking you can't help it. Plus all those Pedialyte popsicles (which REALLY help) don't help the spoiling none. Although by the end of the day he was saying no more popsicle - cereal!!

I tried explaining the other day to my 5 year old how the earth is round and when the sun goes down it's really just going around to the other side of the earth and lighting that side up. A few days later we were driving home from our nearby big city and he says, "Is it getting dark?" and I say, "Yes, it's starting to." And he says, "But it's getting day time for the people under the ground." It took me a few minutes to figure out but it was sooo precious. Guess I had a little bit more explaining to do after all LOL

I Have to Blog This

I may delete it later so read quick...

My husband (which I'll refer to as B, since that's the first letter of his nickname) has been considering working with my Dad for awhile now. Just recently the opportunity came up for my Dad (which I'll refer to as D because it's so much shorter than my Dad) to be able to expand his business out near where we live and possibly have my hubby run it. Just tonight D calls me and says how would you like to move out here (Cali) for 6 months while I train B? Uuuuuh. WELL. Um. Yeah. Sure. Whatever. Erase any trace of life I have out here. Haha. No just kidding. B and I have actually been talking about it quite a bit. He would have to quit his current job which has been a good source of surviving for the past 4 years in order to work with D which he has already been considering going to college which is hard to do in his current line of work, grocery, working shifts. Working with D would allow him to do that, plus give him a whole new line of training he's never really imagined. Good thing? I'm thinking so. PLUS okay get this. We've been talking about having a baby, another one. Actually talking about getting pregnant in September. Annnnd we flew out to California to have the last one with the midwife that delivered our first when we were still living out there. Which we want to do the same thing with this one as well. Sooooo moving out there for 6 months would be just about right. We were out there 4 months last time. Got to talk to B about it of course. I think we'd be making enough money to pay for our house plus we could live with my parents, which we did fine for the 4 months. I'm wondering how 6 months may do. Anybody want free rent and take care of our house? Haha. SIKE. Well unless we know you really really well. Which I'm hoping nobody I know reads this because I haven't talked to anybody about it yet!! AAACKK! Alright well there you are.

flowing through my head today. First off the day was kind of crappy. Between my husband vetoing the restaurant I wanted to go to again, my Mom sending me my sister & her husband's resumes saying these are really good you should keep these on file for when you make yours, and then my sister saying she "likes" me better with my hair short. Yes in that order. The first one is pretty self explanatory, the second one was wtf? but then I called my Mom and said what's up with you mailing me their resumes, I helped her create hers and she'd already emailed them both to me? She said oh she just thought they were good and was sending them out for a reference and she didn't know I had helped her make hers or that I'd already gotten them via email. Which I already knew but since I was already upset about #1 had to hear it from her. And #3 just pissed me off because I was already upset about #1 and #2. Funny how that goes isn't it?

And when I was calling my Mom about #2 she asked me how I was, mentioned I didn't sound too great and I just burst into tears and said everybody tells me their problems but nobody has time to listen to me. I hate when I do that. So my Dad calls me 2 minutes later and says I have time to listen. I said I know you do, and it's not that people don't have time to listen, well except for my Mom who's working all the time lately, it's just there are certain people that I could tell but I don't necessarily want to hear what they have to say about what I have to say, and other people who I would want to hear what they have to say have their own drama going and somehow I feel mine is less important. Which I know is bad because then I end up venting it up inside and bursting out in tears to my Mom on the phone!!! This blog has helped, but it almost isolates me more from these people because I feel like I can vent here and since I already have a place to vent I shouldn't subject my friends to it, especially when they need a place to vent. Then of course I end up feeling like nobody listens to me!! Course I just don't tell 'em so it's not really them.

Serious note breaker: This is HILARIOUS. My five year old has the broom lifted to the door frame to knock the key down from the door frame to unlock the door to the guest room. How ingenious is that LOL ?!!

Boy are those things LOUD!!! We went to the Marble Falls Lakefest today. Best part for me? It was FREE. For us anyhow. Best part for my boys? The boat that went 257 miles and did the distance 8.15 seconds and sprayed water 200 ft. in the air behind it. Don't quote me on those. FUN and the weather was PERFECT, yes even in Texas and not in the fall or spring.

That last post was being stubborn, it wouldn't let me change the picture to go below it and the title to "Oh it was Fun!! Fun, fun, fun!!" Because, yes, I know Spa Retreat is already used up.

Ooooh It was Fun!!! Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Soooo much fun. We did pedicures, facials, painted nails, good food, good company, the works!! We stayed up til' 2:30am having fun, chatting, eating, doing all our "spa" stuff, then watched our movie. We got to bed at 4am, actually I stayed up til' 5am and picked up so it wasn't a mess in the morning and got up at 7am this morning. Must've been REALLLY refreshing because I'm not EVEN feeling it!!!

Update: Ohhhhh I'm soooo proud of myself!!! I FIXED it (see next post), I even figured out how to change the image size so it wasn't bugging over into my sidebar. Yea!! *patting self on the back* : )

Girls Night Out

The girls and I are headed out tonight for a fun evening of facials, pedicures, manicures, and some ahhh relaxing. I've got stuff to make all kinds of homemade recipes. Should turn out interesting : ) . I've also got the 'Prince & Me' in case we run out of things to do!

Torched Paper

Ever tried to toast a piece of paper? Neither had I, til' tonight. Here I go trying to make garlic bread and the cookie sheet decides to grab a piece of paper that's under it and take it into the oven with it. Serving spoon and wooden spatula to the rescue, rigged together to make homemade "get paper out of the oven before it burns" tweezers. Yes I did turn the oven off before I attempted the tricky maneuver. It did come out nicely toasted, which I'm sure is quite a feat for paper.

Stay At Home Mom Trials

I just realized tonight. When you work at a "real" job you get daily affirmation of who you are, the kind of person you seem to be to others, whether it is good or bad, you get daily affirmation that you ARE. When you are a at home parent, day in and day out, it's hard to translate the language of a baby, or the constant describing of all that is happening from a 5 year old into affirmation that you ARE, whether good or bad. Those daily Mommy hugs do do it, but in a different manner. Those give you a deep, soul-hearted feel, where you KNOW you are doing what you should be doing. But on the external fragile outer shell, you are wondering who am I and does anybody even realize I exist, whoever I am?? Of course sometimes that affirmation comes from your spouse, but how often can they affirm that over and over, until you nag it out them, which then of course doesn't give you what you need but leaves you upset and pissed.

God only truely can give us what we need, I truely believe. And I think the only way that external outer layer will ever be satisified is by taking care of the core, fully trusting and believing in God, that He has a plan for EVERY thing even the minor insignificant things, even the things that we think SHOULDN'T be happening. I saw a quote today, "It is easy enough to be pleasant when life flows by like a song. But the man worthwile is one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong." Ella Wheeler Wilcox . How I would love to be that person. One step at a time....

Yesterday we went to Austin. We headed to the Children's Museum which was, I thought, free from 4-6. Turns out they were only open til' 5, so we had about 1/2 an hour once we got there. My 5 year old and I went in and checked out the whole entire place in that 1/2 hour. He knew we were on a time constraint and he was determined to check out every last bit of that place.

Afterwards my hubby surprised me by asking if I wanted to find a place to eat in my treasured Cuisine Scene. Of course I did!! We tried a few places in downtown, but they just didn't appeal once we drove up. I'm not into Austin downtown, it reminds me of Santa Cruz downtown only less friendly. Maybe because it's so big?? Any way we finally got out of the downtown and discovered this wonderful little place called Fire Bowl Cafe. I was cravin' Chinese so we were going through the Chinese food section. It was soooo yummy. Make your own stir-fry. Well they cook it for you but you pick what and how many of the vegetables you want in it. My hubby had the sweet and sour chicken and hot and sour soup, it was soooo good, he actually got mad at me for eating too much of his :) !! They had kids meals too which is nice, my kids LOVE Chinese food, but I don't think I've ever been to one that has kids meals. They had these cute little happy face fries with them that they LOVEd. It's so cute to see a 5 year old and 2 year old eating with chopsticks, especially when you're not using them on a daily basis!! Wasn't bad priced either. Any way it was so good we ate all our food even as stuffed as we were even halfway through.

And to boot there was a Marble Slab Creamery, across the way. YUM!! In between the restaurant and the ice cream store there was a nice rock seating area and a pretty wall that had water cascading down it. We all ended up sitting there for an hour enjoying the evening, eating ice cream, taking pictures, while the kids played in the trees and chased birds.

It was a beeeuuutiful evening : ) .

Lightning Strike

Utter boredom has struck. It's supposed to be Saturday, a lazy day, it definently is that. I'm getting tired of nothing to do in a small town. Everything that is to do has been done, many times over. My husband works in the nearest big city. I want to live there. He won't have as far of a drive and there will be more to do. I'm sure there will still be times when I'm bored silly. But right now I really have NO options. Out there maybe I will have options I just won't want to go do them... Right?

Shabby Chic

Muse: What is Shabby Chic?? Just what it says, Shabby and Chic... I would say I love the shabby chic look but I really don't. I like SOME of it. I don't like all the frilly additives though. I like the distressed part, the general style. I'm wondering what exactly the look I like is called. I like distressed, antique, cottage, and above all peaceful. It's probably a combination of different things I guess.

There are certain looks I like, maybe even love, but would never want them in my home. I have to have a very peaceful setting around me and it has to be something I am comfortable to be around everyday.

Very Distressing

I tried distressing my table today (no it's not finished being painted yet). I got one of the bottoms of the chairs done and am freakin' out. I love the distressed look but I am such a perfectionist that if I'm the one who does it I'm going to notice that extra sanded spot that I didn't mean to sand so much... I'm trying to get over it, one small step at a time.

9/3/2004 Update:I distressed them all and they look FABULOUS. Now just to get the table painted and sanded back...

So Much To Say and Not a Word to Say It

So I'll just start listing random weird facts about today:

1. I got the M*A*C makeup I've been wanting - yea! Paid $82 but got more than I thought I would for that.

2. Found a jacket. oK yes, I KNOW it's freakin' hot!! But I've been looking for the "perfect" jacket for almost a year now and today I saw it at Aeropostale for $25 so of course I HAD to get it. By the way if you want a jacket for the winter they're 50% off there. So get it now.

3. My Dad called. Apparently the line of business they're in has opened up near here and it's possible they may be getting a second home out here. OH BABY would I love that!!! I would just LOVE to have my kids around their grandparents. Sometimes I think it would be worth the cost of moving back to our hometown, other times a most resounding no. Not exactly a super family friendly place to bring kids up in!

4. My kids and I had a really good time playing baseball and football, well catch with the football, and playing in the kiddie pool outside for an hour or so this evening.

5. I got an Iced Grande Caffe Vanilla Latte and an English Toffee Bar at Starbucks. Yummmm!! My 2 yr old got a Horizons Organic Vanilla Milk and my 5 yr old wanted something I knew he didn't like so he ended up not getting anything, which he still had a good attitude about thank God!!

6. It was a WONDERFUL day!

What Next

Oh my word!!! You'd think cleaning the fridge was a crime!! What is it with cleaning and cooking that kids think you've abandoned them?! My little one is coming down with something, he's been off and on fussy all day, and of course the whole fridge deal set him off again .

It was soooo hot today, even hotter than yesterday. Somebody somewhere said it hit 110F. It sure felt like it. We drove around in the car for awhile not wanting to do anything then ended up at a friend's to pick up her kiddie pool. Smart people, they were all in their backyard pool. So we joined for awhile before we came home.

Imagine you're in a sauna.... with clothes on.... and a huge bright light beaming down on you. Now you know just how the weather feels here the past few days.
