We only visited one waterfall on our
road trip back home which happened to be on the side of the
highway--concrete evidence that Oregon has many, many waterfalls through the
Cascade Range of mountains gracing the center of the state. This one is
Multnomah Falls just off I-84. If you're heading west on I-84 towards Portland, my suggestion is to get off the highway on Exit 28 where it says Bridal Veil exit, and take that route to the falls. We drove past it before we decided to stop, but the word is you get to see other falls along the way. The one we stopped at has a parking and a winding walkway up to midway. The walkway continues on to the top of the waterfall, but after six hours of driving and eight more hours of driving to go that day, we decided midway was just perfect.
The waterfall was peaceful and so relaxing. I loved standing in the mist. My only wish was there wasn't SO. MANY. people there. We went on a Sunday, so next time, I'd hope to visit during the week when hopefully there aren't quite so many people there.
Standing in the mist may have been my favorite part. Feeling the drops of water hit from water falling 30 feet away was pretty awe inspiring.
The water falling around this tree at the top was another one of my favorite parts.
My sister and her duo were troopers, even though the little one REALLY wanted to keep going to the top.
This photo takes me to a happy place.
All sweaty and tired from a long road trip, but completely worth the stop.

Preetty. Waterfalls are pretty inspiring and sobering--such natural power.

I am a real sucker for waterfalls. If I could, I would stop at every one I see. But then it would take me forever to get where I'm going. :)
I spent a year living in Portland and used to hike Multnomah Falls all the time. So, so beautiful there!
