When I cook it's something that I KNOW everybody will eat. Let's face it, which kid doesn't like chicken nuggets, hamburgers, pbj's, etc. So my meals end up becoming glorified versions of these i.e. chicken parmesan, ground turkey burgers, etc. Boring!
The only time I enjoy cooking these days is over at Li's where I get to make my GIRLIE meals, although I hear there are some guys out there who are into making fancy meals too. Any who, in the meantime, I'm hoping my food doesn't keep burning while I ignore the timer because I forgot what I set it for because I just don't care.

It's hard to keep making the same things over and over again. I think alot of people get in the rut of repeating meals. Me and def my family included. Go ahead and try out some new things with the kids. They might actually like it!
How frustrating! Kids are such picky eaters. I would've been the same way as a kid. My mom somehow found some pretty tame yet really yummy casseroles to cook up, but she did cook the same things quite often. Maybe you could make something easy for the kids and you and Brando could enjoy the nicer meals? I understand making them eat what you cook, though. I was forced to eat some "gross" stuff myself. At least you have the nights at Li's!
Aw, thanks for the encouragement Emma.
Laura, seriously, I've tried that and Brando gets SOOOO UPSET that I'm catering to the kids. But really, I don't expect them to eat artichoke hearts and olives ; ) . I do understand his point of view though when they start whining for pb&j EVERY night when we let them have something else one night. The eternal battle. Maybe we could do ONE night where it's OUR night to eat and they will eat what we serve them and if they complain the next night then they have to eat what we eat the next time. Hmmm, I like that.
Cooking always has and always will be a chore for me. I hate it too.
B is pretty picky too and it drives me crazy!! I can't imagine having kids and dealing with that too. I love pretty much all food so it is hard when I hear people don't like things. Good luck ...I like your idea of our night and their night.
Ironically, I ended up cooking a full on German meal a few days later. Sure enough, Shawners brings up the spicy red cabbage and says I don't like it, then says the spaetzle dumplings taste like soap. Oh well the rest of us enjoyed it.
