Rafting the Wenatchee River

Speaking of being on the water, when we were in Washington, we decided to whitewater raft the Wenatchee river. Since we had my sister's little ones, ten and three, along
we took it the easy way - Class 1 whitewater rafting. Now we can't wait to do the Class 3 or Class 4 whitewater rafting!

The company we used was Osprey Rafting Company and it was perfect. They were located on the intersection of Icicle Rd and Hwy 2, just down the street from my Grandma. We signed up there, then headed to their location just outside of Cashmere for the Class 1 rafting. The drive was serene with several vineyards
and they had a beautiful area set up once we got there about fifteen minutes later
with a bbq, tables, a fire pit for s'mores,
and a music stage.
One of the main guys that was working at the Leavenworth location was playing guitar and singing along with another guy, who my sister had seen working previously at a bookstore. He joked that you have to work three jobs to live in Leavenworth. They sure seemed relaxed working them, though.

We relaxed in the hammocks

next to the river
and listened to the music, along with making s'mores while we waited for our rafting group to be ready.

Finally, we were ready to go, and off we went.

We had a huge group in our boat, but it all ended up in good fun as we were able to sneak up on other rafts and instigate splash wars which we won all of, except for one.
There weren't too many rapids - I'd say ten at most, and they were class 1 of course, so they came with a few waves that soaked us and made us laugh out loud with shock, but that was it.
My sister's girl, ten, was a brave soul and sat at the front with the boys in her crew. She loved it. You can see the white caps surrounding us that indicate rapid water.

You can see how much help I was trying to take pictures in the rapids...

The scenery wasn't quite like it was in Leavenworth, though Leavenworth only has class 3 or 4 rapids. But it was gorgeous in it's own right, with lots of trees,

several vineyards, different bridges,

perfectly clear water in certain areas,
and rolling mountains.

When we neared the Columbia River, it was time to jump in where the water was a bit warmer. It was still freezing, but I'm so glad I jumped in as it was a fun experience.

Seriously, one of the most fun things I've done in my life and I can't wait to go back and try class 3 or 4!

That is my favourite water sport EVER! I love it and I didn't know there was class 3 and 4 in Washington (I've only been in Canada, Australia and Indonesia) but now I'm dying to check out the whitewater in the USA. Great pictures it showed all the fun you had.

That looks freaking scary! My Dad used to love white water rafting but they used to go through the rocky mountains!

THis looks like so much FUN! I would love to do it one day, but I'm a huge chicken. I would definitely stick to the Class 1 like the little ones. HA.

My parents used to raft all the time on the Hiwassee River before I was born. They have cute pics like yours...so neat.
